About

Bio

Chase is based in Winona, Minnesota, where he races, coaches, and directs his own gravel events. He got into cycling the right way — riding to Dairy Queen with his grandma — and never really stopped. These days he's building something bigger than a race result, one event and one team at a time.

Get to Know

Q&A

How did you get into cycling, and how did you get into gravel specifically? Was there a moment where you knew this was your thing?

I got into biking by riding to the Dairy Queen with my grandma. From there I started biking to hockey practice, then got my first road bike and wanted to try out racing. From there I fell in love with the sport and I've been racing ever since.

What's the hardest thing about being a competitive athlete at the level you're at?

Trying to balance everything — training, being a dad, putting on my events, and coaching. There are only so many hours in a day.

Why Lunch Box? What does being part of this team mean to you specifically?

I started Lunch Box with Drew to have a team built on the ethos of working hard and having fun. That's still what it is.

What's a goal you have — on the bike or off — that most people don't know about?

I want my gravel events to become one of the biggest series in the United States.

What do you do to decompress when you're not on the bike?

Decompress? What's that...

What's something about you that would surprise people who only know you as a cyclist?

I used to play hockey and still love to lace up the skates every now and then.

Lunch Box karaoke night — what are you singing?

Tequila by The Champs. It barely has any words.
